Light switch hardware - zwave or zigbee

HI all - early in my home automation journey so play nice.

I’m incrementally learning by adding new devices for each use case. I’ve got a Rasperry Pi 4 running HA and have managed to get a AEOTEC zwave USB hub working with a neocom window sensor (when the sensor opens some lights turn on). Now i want to set up a simple light switch to turn those same lights on as starting point, then add another action on the sensor to the turn the lights on (part of the home security network).

I’m looking for advice on the simple light switch hardware. And if it is a zigbee do I need another USB hub for Zigbee devices? If so, recommendations on which one.

Any advice much appreciated.

Yes, it’s a different radio so you would need a Zigbee coordinator and integration to work with that Zigbee device.

Recommended hardware for the integrations:

Zigbee2MQTT:
Supported Hardware | Zigbee2MQTT

ZHA:

So, my way at this point will be adding a Zwave switch and expand on that, so you slowly build a nice Zwave mesh
