Lights turning off and I don't know why

In my bedroom I have multiple lights and every now and then 3 of them will all turn off together for no reason and the log also doesn’t say why.

the other lights in the room stay on,

I have no different automation on the lights as I do the other lights in the room which stay on.

Is there some where else I can see why the lights turned off?

Thanks in advanced

I have seen this from time to time as well - with one device, always the same one. I believe in my case this device is having a hardware issue and a device is starting to fail. That makes sense as the activity is all internal to that specific device, so HA would know nothing about it other than being able to report that it’s state had changed.

In your case however it seems to be multiple devices at the same time (which would make a hardware failure very unikely unles they are all controlled by the same piece of hardware)?

Also: what in HA doe all those lights have in common? Are those lights members of a group or a scene that is somehow acted upon that is not for some reason reported?

The first question I always see when someone reports similar is “do you have any Amazon Echo Devices?” If so, do you have “Hunches” enabled? For some reason, someone at Amazon thought that feature should be enabled by default.

Start by checking what those 3 lights have in common which the other lights don’t have.
Controlled by the same (smart) switch? Same model? In a group on a third party app (like Alexa)? Lower wattage?

Narrowing down the commonalities will help you isolate what is causing them to turn off

I’m having the exact same problem with a Zigbee light that I just recently purchased. The automation turns on the light, but after a few minutes, the light turns off. If I use the toggle on the device setting to turn on the light, it stays on.

Here’s my log.

@clarky860 are you still having this issue? Can you try something for me? I was able to keep the lights on by removing the setting for color and brightness in the automation. Do you have any of these options set? Can you remove them to test if the light stays on?

Also do you monitor the temperature of the device, as it may be turning off due to overheating?

Over heating should make it unresponsive. That’s not the problem. I can run an automation to turn it back on everytime the state changes to off and it works every time.

I finally worked out that the 3 lights were turning off when the living room lights turn off, I had the lights in the living room on an automation to turn all lights off in the living room after no motion for 10 minutes.

The lights I have in the bedroom are not in the area of the living room anywhere in home assistant so I don’t know why they were turning off too, but to solve it I changed the automation to turn off the selected lights in the living room and not the area.

Occasionally - especially when you make alot of changes to the code - there are old artifacts left in the database. It could be that atg one time you had one of the devices also in the other group but changed it, and the chjange did not take place correctly under the covers.
