Limited functionality because you're not browsing the dashboard over a secure connection (HTTPS)

I’m a total newbee. I installed HA on RPI4. I installed espHome, but I get that message. When I look at the url it says notsecured. I try to log in with https://homeasistant:8123 but it doesn’t connect. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
Steve

Home assistant does not run over https unless you provide it with ssl certificates. HTTP - Home Assistant

How do I eliminate this error? How do I provide ssl certificates?
Thanks

I don’t think there is any loss of functionality without ssl.

The error message says Limited functionality

You need it to flash from the browser. I personally do not use it, nor do I foresee using it. I like to download the .bin file to my machine, this way I save it for backup purposes. It’s saved my ass once already.

If you use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, you will be able to install the initial configuration by connecting your ESP device to the computer that you’re using to view the ESPHome Dashboard. You need to access the ESPHome Dashboard over HTTPS for this to work. This is a requirement of browsers to access your ESP device to ensure that we write the correct data.

Once again I have missed the “esphome” tag on this thread.

If you access HA over your nabucasa connection it works.

Or simply by setting the unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure flag for your ha ip/hostname in a chromium based browser to make it work with http. :bulb:

Thant’s normal, but your on your local network that is secured

keep going

I did do the install manually and I flashed the d1_mini. It shows up on the router, but in espHome there isn’t the green bar. Any thoughts?

What version of the addon are you using? they removed the green bar a couple of release ago.
