Thanks to this post , I’ve successfully added Linkind Matter RGB bulbs into Home Assistant. However, I’ve got a few outstanding items I’d like to resolve.
Updating firmware of the bulbs. HA has a button to update, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
Light Shows and/or Music-sync mode. Yeah, I don’t think that really is something I should expect HA to do.
So I think I need to have the bulbs associated to both HA and the AiDot app. I’ve seen a couple YouTube videos showing that it works… but not how. I’ve successfully adopted a new bulb into HA and then “shared” it to the AiDot app. However, that process doesn’t expose the firmware upgrades or light presets in the app. So I assume I need to go the other way; adopt in AiDot first and then “share” to HA. But I can’t figure out how to do that. Any suggestions?
HA use the CSA DCL to search for and download firmwares.
The firmware of the certified device is automatically entered, when the certification process is sucessful, but after that it is up to the vendors how they distribute firmwares.
Eve use the ledger, but Onvis does not and Onvis require a convoluted process with a required Apple Matter Hub device, essentially making it an Apple-only device, since a firmware is required, due to a critical bug.
Search the Vendor ID in the Ledger, then search the products on the vendor ID to see what devices and firmwares are available on the ledger.
I had assumed that I couldn’t add a Matter device in HA using the “No. It’s new.” prompt. I went ahead and tried it today, and it’s working! Time will tell how wise it is to have it “managed” in two places, but for now I’m going with it.
You should not be able to add a Matter device to two fabrics using the same QR code sticker on the device, but maybe the AiDot app is not a Matter thing.
