Local only, HA supported alternative to Chromecast?

Hey there,
I’m looking for an alternative to a Chromecast, that will let Home Assistant stream video to TVs in my house without also streaming information about my family to various companies such as Google.

It sounds like Miracast devices might be able to do what I’m after, but I’m neither sure about if the standard is any better than Chromecast privacy wise, nor could I find any info about how supported they are in HA.

Any possible recommendations?

Sort of. I found that using a Miracast worked (using DNLP, I think?)… although it was kind of stuttery and laggy and even when it wasn’t doing that the looks pretty compressed so while it technically worked, I’m not really using it. sigh

I stumbled about GitHub - MayaPosch/NymphCast: Audio and video casting system with support for custom applications. very early version, but maybe a try worth.
