Local Tuya - device configuration variables and benefits?

I started with Home Assistant a few months ago. I have started building out my Z-Wave devices, but have a lot of Tuya devices as well. I have been using the official Tuya integration and it has been working pretty well until the issues over the past few weeks. I started testing out Local Tuya and am looking at the pros/cons of moving to Local Tuya. Wanted to get feedback to see if what I am thinking makes sense. Please give any thoughts or point out anything that is wrong.

Pros

  1. Not dependent on the Tuya cloud.
  2. Since it is local, presumably it is faster.

Cons

  1. Cant set configuration values on devices. For example, my dimmer has a configuration value for the minimum dimming level. I still need to do this from the Tuya app or official integration.
  2. Setup is longer. Need to lookup the mappings and set them.
  3. Maybe I am wrong, but seems like less device types are supported.
  4. Cant fully get away from using the cloud for the above reasons. Still need it for configuration purposes, to get mappings, and local key.

I like being able to control the devices locally. Reduces any risk from potential cloud issues for being able to control things. However, I have a lot of other things that are on the cloud so this is a nice benefit, not a must have. Seems that I will likely need to have both Local Tuya, and the official Tuya (or use Tuya app).

Anything that I am missing or am just plain wrong on?

Hi , As we all noticed Tuya is a pain , specially if you have a lot of devices with different features .
As tuya is kinda means a protocol and not a specific manufacture , a lot of devices are having
issues and not 100 % working correctly via one or sometimes both of the methods .

What I did and few others I seen because we have no other option is to actually try to use each
method for devices that could be configured and hope you don’t get a conflict . That is unless
we will wait for an official Tuya fix which I heard is coming soon but i am not holding my breath

Ultimately having control of the devices we brought should be in our hand without the need for
any forced cloud solution which includes other matters related to privacy and I suspect in the future
will have an additional cost and fees

Cheers
