I had the same problem. I made the switch over to Tuya Local and all works fine, the setup process was very simple compared to when I originally set up local tuya.
Just installed the latest update 2025.1.1 and the problem was gone
I updated to 2025.1.1 and the problem was still there.
Did you do something else to get it works?
My Local Tuya also stopped working when I updated to core 2025.1.0. When I restored back to core 2024.12.5, my Local Tuya worked again.
I just updated to core 2025.1.1, and my Local Tuya works great. Yay! Iām glad I donāt have to do the workaround.
Still an issue with 2025.1.2. LocalTuya failed to load.
Just tried 2025.1.2 as well, same issue, some are working but a good chunk of my LocalTuya entities become inactive and have to rollback to 2024 where everything works.
Edit:
Just tried out the fork posted above and updated again to 2025.1.2, havenāt tested much but apparently everything is working fine now, thanks for posting!
Thanks for the information on this fork. I have followed your instructions and I can confirm it works with 2025.1.0. It also āsolvedā some previous issues with a swimming pool Weau Heat pump interface I had. Did need to fix some buttons on the UI for the heat pump, however it is now working better than before. Thanks again for sharing.
Hi Rob. Can you point me towards some additional information about flashing Tuya devices with ESPHome. I have several Tuya power monitoring plugs and would like to make sure they are as reliable as possible? Thanks in advance
Thanks BigT for sharing & szunyog, this worked for me too!

Seems to be fixed in the newest version of Local Tuya Release Fixes for 2025.01 Ā· rospogrigio/localtuya Ā· GitHub
Can confirm, updating LocalTuya to 2025.01 fixed it for me as well!
I also confirm that this fork link posited by @SBeukers not only fixed this problem but others as well. And as stated requires no reconfiguration just a restart.
It is worth noting that this fork is regularly maintained where as the original Local Tuya has not been updated in years.
I donāt use HA much for tuya but I do have 40 devices. Normally use Google or smart life. But it is getting annoying at times when I do want to and no roled out fix so finally researching. Excuse the dumb question.
āJust remove the integration from HACS (not from HA!! so press ignore when deleting)ā
What is HACS?
Home assistant Community Store.
Itās a great way to manage custom integrations. And custom front-end custom dashboard stuff.
With support for updates, custom repos etc. etc. etc.
I am 95% sure that if you have local Tuya you also have HACS.
I was about to cry since my PC321-W-TY power clamp stopped functioning. This new integration really helped but had to add manually
I understand itās frustrating when an integration doesnāt work, but posting in the forum is not how you will get the attention of developers, let alone in a thread about a custom integration (local tuya) that is not related to the core tuya integration.
It seems to me you have two choices:
-
assuming youāve not yet done this, post your issues against the core integration on GitHub, providing full details of your setup, including logs, devices and symptoms. Honestly, I think chances of success here are not high - Tuya basically helped develop the integration, then ran away when it started getting tricky
-
try one of the variants that use local communication with your tuya devices - the original Local Tuya, the fork of Local Tuya, or Tuya Local. Depending on how many devices you have, this may get you closer to a more reliable system
Thank you for the suggestion. Iām from India and I donāt have other choices but to go with the smart home devices that only integrate with Home Assistant via TUYA. If there are other devices available I would have choosen those hope you understand and Thank you once again for the suggestions. Awaiting for the fix related to the TUYA integration.
No worries, and I understand that (itās why I didnāt suggest you replace them with something else!).
For what itās worth, Iām using the fork of Local Tuya, if only for one device. The setup can be done using your existing cloud credentials. The developer is also very active and responsive to fixing issues.
