i have a strange problem. I’am building my new house, and in the other one where i live I do some test with hassio. So in the old house I have two 4g router with wifi and two hassio running, and all worked ok…
Now the now house is finished and I moved the 4g router and hassio in the new house. I use as device tracker life360, the problem is when i arrive in the new house the hassio detect me in the old house… but the gps coordinate is right in config file… Why this???
So let me see if I understand. When you’re physically in your new home, the state of your device_tracker is away, and when you’re physically in your old home, the state of your device_tracker is home. Is that correct?
When you’re in your new home, where does HA show you on its map? And when you’re in your old home, where does HA show you on its map? And in both cases, where does the Life360 app show you on its map? Basically, does the device_tracker have the correct GPS coordinates for you wherever you are?
If the device_tracker has the correct GPS coordinates, and shows you in the correct place on HA’s map, but the state is wrong, then you need to recheck your HA zones. Where do they show on HA’s map? Are they in the correct location(s)?

Yes

The hassio map show me in the old house position.

No

No i’am in the new house and the life and the hassio show me in the old house.
Ok, let’s stick to the basics for now. Forget about what HA/hassio is showing. Is the Life360 app showing your location correctly, or is it not updating sometimes? Is it having an issue updating your location when you’re around your new home? Do you have bad Internet coverage there? If Life360 itself does not know where you are, then there’s no way that HA/hassio will be able to show your location and update your device_tracker’s state correctly.
When I’am in new house it show correctly the position, in app and also in new house hassio.
When I connect my smartphone to the new house wifi, the life360 app jump my position to the old house position and also the new house hassio. This is impossible. And this happen only when I connect the phone to the new house wifi.
I agree. That seems impossible. That’s something you’ll need to take up with Life360. Again, the life360 HA component gets the location information from the Life360 server, and if the Life360 server has the wrong location information for your device, there’s nothing that HA can do about it.
Actually, maybe it’s the location system in your smartphone, since, of course, the Life360 app (and hence the Life360 server, and ultimately HA) get your phone’s location from its location system/service. It seems when you connect to WiFi (at your new home) the location system in your phone is reporting the wrong location. Most phones these days determine location from a combination of things – GPS, WiFi, etc.
Check the Life360 FAQs. They might have a suggestion. Or maybe play around with your phone’s location settings (maybe don’t use WiFi for determining location, and just stick with GPS???)
This could also be your problem. Maybe the WiFi location system in your phone, or the system it depends on, believes this router is still in its old location. Maybe that will correct itself in time???
I do have the same kind of problem, but then with the official Home Assistant app.
When someone arrive home, in the new home, the app it self shows location of the new home, but hassio/home assistant is locating my phone, my laptop, my wifes phone, tablet in the old home.
So it looks like a bug in home assistant? Today my wife was driving home (just before christmas ), and I saw on the map how she was getting closer, and as soon as she touch the home location radius, see was located in the old home.
I think I have the root of the problem: one of the quickest way to get current location is checking which wifi networks are close. And I took the wifi router with me to the new location.
I’ve reset location info in my phone, laptop and tablet, and now location is almost fine.
And to update the location of the wifi networks, can take some time.
I’ve moved home 4 times in the last 18 months and this has been a painful issue every time. All my automations based on people being home go haywire, and it can last for weeks or months. I’m using the official HA app for location tracking (all android phones).
My guess is that the HA app just relies on Android location info, and that, in turn, is using a fairly stupid method based entirely on the strongest AP, instead of triangulation or treating GPS lock as an authority. But then apps on my phone don’t seem to locate me wrong, so… I’m at a loss.
