Localtuya only working a colour bulb as a switch

I am trying to get all my plugs and lights away from the cloud. I want them to still work when the internet goes down. Along with keeping my data to myself. So the problem is: I got the key. I have localtuya setup. When I unlink it from tuya. It puts the light in configuration mode. But the real problem is that it finds the bulb. But will not control it. I can only control it from the tuya app. Not the localtuya intergation.

Has anyone ran in to this before? If so, how did you fix the issue?

You probably selected the wrong type of device when adding it. Try using 20 as the entity type. This is the config that works for me

I don’t get those options. I am very confused. Is there something that gives you a better idea on what to put in the fields?

Note that the DPS you selected is 1, instead of 20. Maybe try that.

I deleted the bulb from the home assistant. Here is what I get.

Then here is what I get on the next screen after I select light.

Would it be better to do this by hand and not use the integration?

The local key has been changed!!

Also I can not release the bulb from the tuya app with out it going in to reset mode. It will not keep the wifi configuration unless it is linked to the app.

Yea I’ve given up on localtuya, way too much effort and way to unreliable.

Most Tuya compatible devices are ESP based, open it up and flash it with ESPHome!
