i have my old homeassistant vmdk file and I can mount it and read the files
all I want is configuration.yaml file location and the backup location ,so I can copy them to the new Homeassistant

If you are running Home Assistant OS, the file is in the /config folder. For more information, refer to the documentation:
Backup files are in /backup.
