When logging into ha locally on the network with chrome now I notice every single time I go to it I have to Put my user id and password in again and even if I tell it to save it it never gets saved I vote for the settings in promo all over the place I can’t find them is it a chrome thing or is it something new in the latest version of HA?
Chrome and Google have been going all in on https connection over the past many months and even some years.
This could be a spin off of this crusade, if your local HA is not on https.
Did you try adding the credentials manually to chrome? The hamburger menu on the top right. Choose password manger then add it manually
I don’t use the Chrome password manager and shouldn’t have to - I use roboform. Either way, when I log in and tell it to kep me logged in, it doesn’t keep me logged in - I have to re-login every time…
But that is not saving the login credentials.
That is probably a long lived token that have an issue.
You are talking with regards to the radio button saying “keep me logged in” on the HA login screen? How do I fix that?
I actually don’t know, because I never had the issue.
I know that it is token based and that somewhere in the setting pane (maybe user?) there are token listed.
Have you tried another browser to see if it’s the same behavior? How about clearing all cookies and history for home assistant in chrome?
I did blow away all the cookies and the cache etc., didn’t help. Edge it works fine - remembers that I was logged in on relaunch, etc.
Make sure that you don’t have delete cookies on browser exit enabled.
Also In the settings search for
On-device site data
Add the home assistant ip if it’s not there.
There is an advanced tab when clearing cookies that will let you delete site sign ins and passwords, is that the option it you used?
This seems like an issue with chrome, I find a lot of posts with this type of problem across many different sites. Try the search string chrome won't save site credentials token
if the above provides no relief.
