Look for whole home solar with batteries (Tesla powerwall, Enphase etc)

I am about to add solar panels and whole home battery backup solution to my house. I had immediately ruled out Tesla due to the cloud connection / internet requirement and started down the path of Enphase due to the ability to access and control the system 100% locally. But that seems to have very recently changed and now also requires a token system to authenticate with their servers even to access the system locally.

I refuse to pay even $10 for anything that I have to ask permission of someone elses servers to change/control and review systems behind my firewall at my own location.

What battery systems do I have as an option that will work with Home Assistant without a cloud/internet connection and authenticating to servers that are not “me”.

You might want to look into the cost effectiveness of adding a battery to a grid connect system. When I last checked it wasn’t worth it.

Unfortunately I am in a place that loses power very frequently. My whole goal is to be able to run off grid while also getting some benefits of power bill reduction when the power is up. And currently the only way I know of to be grid tie and still run the system when the power is completely out is to have a battery.

Yeah that’s definitely a valid reason for getting a battery.
