Hello guys,
I am searching a simple wifi speaker that I can plug somewhere in the house and play a chime/alert when a zigbee button is pressed. Can be battery powered or connected to socket.
I only use WiFi and ZHA (home assistant running in docker, no ESP, BLE, MQTT)
Get yourself any speaker with a 3.5mm audio jack and plug in a chromcast audio then in the automation tell HA to play the sound on that to the speaker for the output.
Hi, so I would need a chromecast audio device and a speaker. Could work, but not a nice thing to have 2 devices - I was hoping for a single device like the chromecast thing (small) that I can plug somewhere in the house but can play a beep too
Can you recommend a simple board? I think the easiest setup would be with a 3,5mm jack so just plug in any cheapo active speaker. Of course I went through the ESPHome Audio offering but to be honest I was overwhelmed and have no clue where to start.

ESPHome an be done easy with YAML code just like your config files in HA.
There is a special forum here for it.
It connects easily to HA over WiFi.
Ask in the forum and you will be guided.
It’s a plug and play setup and once you get it set you don’t even need to think about it. You just hide the cast behind the speaker where you want to place it and in turn you can upgrade the speaker in the future without removing the cast function.
If you want a mic with it then just look into an echo or homepod mini or setup something local only through esphome projects.
