Looking for a water hardness sensor

Hi everyone. I recently noticed that the hardness(TDS) of city water fluctuates between 20ppm to 140ppm, meaning that the city must be changing water sources. Just curious is there a device that I can install to my main water line to monitor the water hardness? I’ve been searching on Amazon or eBay but didn’t find anything other these TDS test pens.

Thanks!

Water hardness is really hard to measure correct and fast methods like strips and pens are really not reliable. Especially with the lower values the fluctuation can be huge.

There are devices doing this job automatically, expensive, but reliably. Way too much for a household. But if your mission is critical, have a look…

I operate 4 of these at work and can say, they are good

I have two tester pen and they both show consistent test result so I guess their accuracy is good “enough” to tell the fluctuation. And it’s not a surprise that professional test equipments are super super expensive.

They are, way overkill for home use :joy:
