Looking for ethernet temperature sensor

Hi all,

Currently I am using the built-in thermostat function of home assistant, with a shelly relais to enable a heater, and a Shelly H&t temperature sensor.

The shelly h&t is usb powered, but is measuring too slow. Apparently it is programmed too wake up as little as possible, because wifi transmission heat up the chip and influence the measurement.
I’ve set the treshold to 0.5° but it is not fast enough for accurate temperature control.

Now because at work I have an Omron Ethernet temperature controller that does modbus, I’ve tried that controller, to just read out a PT100 sensor via ModbusTCP every 5s. (no controlling with the omron, control remains in ha).
So using the omron temperature input instead of the shelly temperature sensor, the temperature control is much better!
So I am looking for a (preferably wired) ethernet temperature sensor that does ModbusTCP.
And not as expensive as the industrial one that I am using.

Any suggestions?
Thomas.

Perhaps just get a WiFi thermostat and use that to control the heater?

I have a similar setup to control an electric heater in an isolated Bathroom, Last week had a power outage, the sensor started reporting in Celsius which HA thought was Fahrenheit and hence made the heater permanently on. Power cycled the sensor again and it started reporting correctly…. Net is to make it reliable assess the health of the sensor is important. Having two would be better. Or don’t use HASS to do control.
