Looking for guidance on installing x86 HAOS under Parallels on Mac

I’ve decided to start experimenting with HA. Rather than spending money on hardware to experiment on, I want to install it on my current Mac where I’m already using Parallels Desktop. But the only guidance I’ve been able to find was for running on an Apple Silicon Mac.

I figured out quite a bit, enough to create a VM in Parallels that boots into the EFI manager, but so far I haven’t been able to get HAOS to boot. All the errors from mistakes I’ve made consistently state that Parallels doesn’t recognize any OS in the images. And the behavior so far suggests the same.

I’ve tried both the generic x86 64 and haos ova downloads.

Is there a guide on how to do this? Or any suggestions?

This is where I’m stuck:

HAOS Shell

After more hours spent trying every possible thing I can think of, the answer is apparently, “You can’t get there from here.”

I have no more time to waste on this. :confounded: :confounded: :confounded:

Have you tried this instructions? I successfully installed HAOS on an Intel Mac by Parallel.

Just follow the “Method 1 (recommended) : Boot Ubuntu from a USB flash …”
but boot from Ubuntu iso img,
restore HAOS img to VM disk,
and enable the UEFI boot in Config → Hardware → Boot Order → Advanced, add vm.bios.efi=1
