Looking for hardware ideas (zwave switches, door sensors)

Hi guys, looking at some ideas as to what options I have for my needs. I run hass on a Pi, so I was considering an Aeotec Z-Stick, but I’m not sure as to whether I can use z-wave to do what I want.

My initial need is to control light switches, but I don’t want to go replacing the faceplate. Is it possible to do this? I would like the switch to remain operational as I don’t want to have to use an app to control my lights.

I’d also like to have door sensors - can I do the above in a relatively cheap way? I’m based in the UK.

Thanks!

My own source of Z-Wave related shopping is Vesternet.

To control light switches, then the likes of the Aeotec switch is an option. It sits behind the faceplate, so that the switch can operate the lights, or you can automate it.

There’s a range of door sensor options, ranging from relatively cheap, to more expensive. Generally speaking the more expensive ones are less visually intrusive.
