Looking for Installer/Specialist UK (Herts area) HomeAssistant + SolarAssistant + Huawei integration

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for someone (freelancer, installer, or experienced Home Assistant user) who can help me set up a smart energy management system using:

  • Home Assistant
  • SolarAssistant (as the bridge to my inverter)
  • CT clamp monitoring (e.g. Shelly EM or Iammeter)

My current system:

  • Huawei SUN2000 inverter + LUNA2000 battery (5kWh)
  • 4.8 kWp solar PV
  • Octopus tariff (Cosy Import + Outgoing Fixed Export possibly switching to Flux)
  • Work from home 4–5 days a week
  • Potential future additions: ASHP, underfloor heating, second battery, EV charger

What I want the system to do:

  • Automate battery charge/discharge based on time-of-use tariffs
  • Optimise for Octopus Flux peak export (4–7pm) and avoid import during Cosy peak
  • Integrate weather forecasts and occupancy to make smart decisions
  • Monitor grid, battery, and household load in real time
  • (Eventually) automate loads like ASHP, immersion heater, or EV charger

I’m fairly tech-literate but don’t have the time or confidence to build and integrate it all myself so ideally looking for someone who can recommend hardware, help set it up, and get the logic right.

Based in Hertfordshire, but happy to work remotely with someone experienced.

If this sounds like something you’ve done or you can recommend someone please let me know!

Thanks in advance

Oxfordshire here (also Octopus and EV charger).

I wish you luck finding someone but HA is hobbyist software and wouldn’t advise you running/using it if you don’t understand it yourself as there will be ongoing maintenance requirements and things will break.

If you really don’t have the time or confidence, I cannot honestly recommend you use HA - get a professional system installed instead.

If you are willing to try (it’s great fun) I would suggest you start simple and learn along the way. Use us to help with your questions etc.

Dorset here… welcome to the forum.

What he said.

The SolarAssistant webpage has detailed instructions for setting up alongside Home Assistant.

I say “alongside”, because it appears to require its own RPi - I can’t find an integration or an add-on - and it communicates via MQTT. This is not trivial and it will certainly require hands-on maintenance.
