I’m looking to buy a robot vacuum that works well with Home Assistant. I have a loud, dumb old Roomba, and my hope for this iteration would be a vacuum I could trigger with HA so it runs unobtrusively when all members of the family are away from the house.
Past that requirement, nice-to-haves include:
Quiet. Even if no one will be home, the quieter the better.
Effective. It will be picking up pet fur from two dogs and a cat.
Low-profile. My existing Roomba it somewhat tall and doesn’t get under things well.
It is quiet by and large, but if you run the vacuum portion in Turbo mode then it will not meet your requirements. Quiet mode is fine and not overly intrusive even if you are home.
I have automations for it to run daily in some areas, others every other day, and mop every other day…
I have similar automations as you pointed out, but I added the variable if the mop is attached then it won’t vacuum as I do not want the mop pad collecting all of my pet hair. I, also, set up notifications to my wife and I’s mobile phones so we know if it started and if it didn’t as to why it didn’t.
It is super effective. If you are a clean freak and keep your house clean then my suggestion is to be around the first time you run it and empty the dust pan. You will be disappointed in how well you thought you cleaned your house before.
Down side. It is not short or low profile. It gets under beds, end tables, coffee tables, etc. just fine, but it will not get under a couch.
The integrations and map extractor available here are absolutely amazing. To be able to call your call your vacuum from your phone and clean a specific room or spot is a great feature. In addition, I have tablets on my walls for my bedrooms and I have setup a button on each tablet to call the vacuum to clean the room on request.
