Looking for Video Doorbell Suggestions with Door Unlock Feature (Home Assistant Integration)

Hi everyone!
I’m currently searching for a video doorbell that integrates well with Home Assistant and includes a door unlock feature — ideally something I can trigger directly from Home Assistant.

From what I’ve gathered so far, Ring and Reolink don’t support this functionality.

I’m currently using a Tuya-compatible doorbell, which does have the unlock feature, but it only works through their native app, not via Home Assistant. I’m looking to replace it with something more open and better integrated.

Any recommendations? Bonus points for local control, good video quality, and reliability.

What are your requirements to unlock the door?

Basically, two different devices …

  • camera
  • door lock

Both with HA functionality and an automation.

In the outside door I have an electric lock, so I need that the video doorbell include the relay output to connect to the electric lock. Currently the one I have has that feature but it’s starting to fail and the integration is not that great.

2 seperate devices would be an option.

You can build a device using esp32 and esphome

Dahua VTO models have this function and integrate well with HA

It is nearly half off. Can you just get another one? Assuming it is the camera device that is failing.

I was thinking that was a pretty unique product. Surprised to see that Dahua has models with it. Maybe check them out as tmjpugh said.

@jeffcrum not sure in others countries but this feature in Portugal and as far as I know in most Europe, is pretty standard. The one I have now is not very reliable, I don’t want another one like this.

I was looking more at the link you posted. Is that a magnetic lock?

No it’s not magnetic, I believe it’s mechanical but in not sure of the specs. It’s normally closed and opens with 12v input
