Any recommendations gratefully received. Needs to work with ZHA.
The Aqara T1M looks possible, but is expensive compared to others out there like the govee and tuya ones, but I’ve not found any good info on which devices work with ZHA and can be properly controlled.
The ones I’ve looked at so far, seem to have problems with either both lights (main and accent) being controlled as a single light, or lights where the effects don’t work unless controlled through the native app.
I experimented with these and they worked fine with zigbee2mqtt, this was a year or so ago. USD 20 price range. I ended up going with a Tuya based MCU device that I was able to replace the firmware to make it 100% local wifi using OpenBK7231T/OpenBeken (I am pretty sure ESPHome’s Tuya MCU support will work as well). I went with this Tuya light because it offered a greater form acceptance from the ‘significant other’ I think with a little bit of AliExpress searching you can find other Zigbee lights that might work for you as well. Since you are down the ZHA rabbit hole, you might need to do a custom quirk. For this light, I do not remember if I could control the ‘whites’ and ‘RGBs’ separate on the zigbee light (zigbee is bit more restrictive on light control than a custom Tasmoto or ESPHome device) , on the Tuya WiFi hacked light they are separate physical LEDs and can be controlled independently and at same time.
