Several weeks ago I had a network outage lasting several hours. After the network came back up, my SmartWings shade in Home Assistant showed status of Unavailable and has not recovered.
The components involved include Cellular Shade Nowa Motorized Matter Motor Over Thread, Apple HomePod mini, iPhone Home app, iPhone Home Assistant Companion app. All components are on the same network via WiFi.
After several attempts, I ended up doing the following:
1. Remove SmartWings and HomePod from iPhone Apple Home app
2. Deleted iPhone Apple Home app, rebooted phone & re-downloaded app.
3. Factory reset SmartWings shade
4. Factory reset HomePod mini
5. Pair HomePod to iPhone Apple Home app
6. Pair SmartWings to iPhone Apple Home app
I am now able to use my iPhone Apple Home app to control the SmartWings shade.
The following is what should work to connect it to HA:
1. Start the iPhone Apple Home app.
2. Find and open the SmartWings device.
3. Open Settings and scroll to the bottom.
4. Click on Turn On Pairing Mode and Copy Code
5. Start the iPhone Home Assistant companion app
6. Go to Settings, Integrations, Add integration
7. Find and click on Add Matter device
8. Click on “Yes, it’s already in use”
9. Click on Apple Home
10. Paste in the Setup code and click on Add device.
After a few minutes I get this error message Failed to add device…
