Lost in configuration

I installed HAOS on to a Geekom MiniPC I had laying around (MiniAir 11) and plugged in my HomeSeer SmartStick G8 (800 Series) to control my Z-Wave light (UltraPro Z-Wave Smart Toggle Light/39354).

Disclaimer: This USB stick was previously used on another PC with HomeSeer. I have the keys used on that install, but did not copy them over to the HA install.

My issue is that when I go to Settings - Devices & Services - Z-Wave, I see 2 devices. 1 is the USB stick and the other is “Node 2”. I assumed this was the light switch, but the only functionality it has is ping.

I am a newb to HAOS and trying to find my way through it, but this one issue I am stuck on.

Thank you for reading.

The default for many hubs is to include the device with S2 security. If that is the case for Homeseer, then the device won’t work in HA without the keys. Either copy over the keys and re-interview, or since it’s only one device, exclude and re-include.

I tried to input the previous keys, but they would not stick. Instead, I used exclude/re-include as well as reset the switch (3 up, 3 down), and it loaded in the dashboard as a switch this time!

You need to input the keys in the required format. Likely Homeseer uses another format.

  • The network key consists of 32 hexadecimal characters, for example 2232666D100F795E5BB17F0A1BB7A146

If you don’t need the old keys anymore, just be sure to generate new ones (click the icon next to the keys) so you can use S2 inclusion.
