Lost my Sonos mediaplayer?

After my initial setup last weekend of HA on a Pi I left it running for a few days, just to see how it would work. I didn’t really do anything to it, just checking some dashboards every now and then. This morning I checked and I saw the Sonos Mediaplayer dissappeared from the dashboard. It was also missing from my entities. After a restart it can’t discover the Sonos anymore.

After the restart I also had to configure the HUE lights again even though earlier restarts didn’t need that at all. How can this happen and is this behaviour I can expect from Home Assistant? I am not really technically inclined although I am not afraid to dive into logfiles and config files. But I have the idea HA would be a bit more “plug and play” than what I am experiencing until now.

Edit: After I refreshed my default view the Sonos was all of a sudden there. I didn’t change anything. I checked the entities list and it’s there again. How does this happen but better yet, how to prevent this from happening?

Do your devices have static IP addresses or are they using DHCP?

They use DHCP.

It’s possible that HA lost track of your devices because their IP address changed. It then relocated them using discovery. To prevent this from happening, reserve an IP address for each of your devices in your router or set a static IP address on the device.
