Lovelace: Firemote Card - Remote controls for Amazon Fire / Android devices

Absolutely! Check out the FAQ section: Why won’t the volume, mute, and/or power buttons work from my Firemote card?

Hi Doug,

Sorry I’ve enabled cec and been through that. Still having issues. Tried strong compaitiblity mode also. Fire stick remote is controlling tv volume fine also

Edit : the Lg web os integration controls the volume fine so I’ll try work around using the button override function

Otherwise, I was wondering if your Fire device wasn’t behaving properly. If you hold your hand in front of the physical remote’s front IR emitter and try the physical volume buttons, do they work?

Hi Doug,

Great job with that project. I’m using Fire TV 4K Max (gen.1) and all buttons are working properly except one for “Prime Video”
It’s not starting the app at all - it’s a funny coincidence because it’s a native Amazon app. For example Smart-Tube installed via external downloader works properly.

part of my config:

name_position: hidden
app_launch_1: apple-tv
app_launch_2: jellyfin
app_launch_3: prime-video
app_launch_4: smart-tube-next
app_launch_5: max
app_launch_6: disney-plus

Is there any option to track where is the problem?
I’ve tried also different remote view/type but same issue.

Best Regards,
Robert

Greetings Robert! It’s nice to have you here! Welcome!

There was a recent update with the Prime Video app, which changed the command that Firemote uses to open start it up. This was also reported in the Firemote GitHub as Issue #523, and within the hour I published a patch with the beta release version 4.1.0b4.

If you download that version, you’ll find the fix.

Thanks for a speedlight answer Doug!
I will check how to update to that beta version - I’m not so experience with HA / HACS yet.
But for sure that will solve the issue.
Sorry - I was not checking the Github site for news.

You’re very welcome! I’m happy to help!

If you navigate back to the HACS page, search for Firemote, click the 3 dots in the opper right hand corner, select Redownload, you should see the option to select and download a different version

That’s awesome to hear @Straw! Thanks for sharing!

For those still following this thread, did you see the video I just posted? Check it out! https://youtu.be/AggYjQ4vI-U

Quick question: I’ve got 4 FireTVs in my outdoor areas that I’d like to control. Can anyone think of a way where I could build a button bar to run along side FireMote that switches Firemote to the TV I want to control? That way I only need 1 FireMote on the screen and can toggle between controlling different TVs.

Awesome work on Firemote, BTW. I absolutely love it.

Thanks @jbmc! Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you love it!

Have you looked at this post in the Firemote GitHub discussion called Let’s See Your Dashboards!? The example there is not 100% what you were asking for, but maybe it would be even better than what you wanted. It’s an example of how a Firemote card can be completely hidden, and only pop up based on tapping an icon. If you created 4 different tap targets (one for each of your devices), I think it would accomplish what you are looking for.

@crdougn thanks! I’ll give that a look.

@crdougn I have recently started moving from my Nvidia Shield devices to the new Google TV Streamer (4K). the remort button config is a little different then the Chromecast with Google TV. Will you be adding support for this device in the near future?

Absolutely @cdrom1028!

Have a look at this link Poll: Vote for what gets added next!. Google TV Streamer support is coming up next!

I’m fairly confident that the work on the Homatics Media Player is complete and working properly for all users (I haven’t heard any complaints), so my procedure for adding the Google TV Streamer will start very soon!
