Lovelace: Firemote Card - Remote controls for Amazon Fire / Android devices

My apologies, I might not be understanding your question properly.

The expected behavior when pressing the menu button is for the menu to appear. If you also want the option for recently used apps, you can add that functionality with an app button like this:

That was it exactly, thank you for the help and thank you soo much for this wonderful integration!

I have the 4k fire stick, and the buttons don’t work. The only buttons that working for me are home, back, and app buttons but nothing else is working. Any suggestions or solutions? Thank you

Welcome to the community @reconslayz!

Have you had an opportunity to try the troubleshooting steps listed in the FAQ section in the Firemote GitHub Page? Take a look at https://github.com/PRProd/HA-Firemote#faq under the headings of " Why won’t the volume, mute, and/or power buttons work from my Firemote card?" and " Why don’t any of the buttons on the Firemote work at all?" to see if any of that is helpful.

Please let me know either way, and I’d be more than happy to help you further if you need it!

How do I button override the following buttons:

up-button
left-button
center-button
right-button
down-button

Sorry i don’t know how to code

I could tell you… but I’m more curious as to why you wouldn’t want up to go up, right to go right, left to go left, etc. What do you want them to do?

I thought that by overriding I could reconfigure the buttons because those are the only buttons that are not working

No. Those buttons should all work if you set the configuration correctly. What happened when you tried the steps found in the link I posted?

No worries @reconslayz! I’m just happy it’s working for you! Let me know if you need anything else!

My tv is connected to a external speaker system and it could be controlled from the physical fire stick remote. Is it possible to control volume with the Firemote Card?

If your external speaker system is controllable through Home Assistant, or if it is controllable through CEC and connected to your TV via HDMI cable, then it can likely be done.

The instructions about how to do this are in the FAQ section of the readme file on GitHub. https://github.com/PRProd/HA-Firemote#why-wont-the-volume-mute-andor-power-buttons-work-from-my-firemote-card

Would be cool to be able to add extra buttons. For example in my setup I have a A/V receiver and Projector.

At the moment I just added buttons at the bottom but would be nice to be able to have them of the same theme style.

@ ThaNerd - I like that idea! It sort of sounds like the one requested at Support for custom service calls · Issue #152 · PRProd/HA-Firemote · GitHub, but instead of using the app launch buttons, you’re suggesting using regular round buttons with maybe an MDI icon in them.

Can we move this discussion over to GitHub? Please either add your idea to #152 so that you and the folks there can discuss if they prefer yours, theirs, or to do them both separately. The other option would be to open a new issue (choose Feature request) and add the contents of your post from here to there.

Btw, if i want to learn how to make my own remote gui, is there a good walkthrough tutorial for beginners?

I wish there was. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how things work, and sometimes just succeeding by guessing and checking. You might have some success if you look at some of the much older releases in my Github repo.

For anyone still following this thread: Firemote now supports Apple TV devices as well! So, if you were waiting for that, it’s time!

Indeed, I have!

Hello. I’m integrating this card into my setup, and I have a few questions. First, here’s the screen “so far”:

1- On the right, I have a bunch of channel buttons custom-added for various things. Its not purely fireTV (note the XBox, Steam, and Switch buttons), so I would rather use those buttons than the built-in app buttons. Is there a way to keep the selected visual layout, but “hide” the app buttons?

2- If you look below the FireMote card, you can see a Harmony Hub card. The harmony hub is connected to the FireTV as a virtual keyboard, and I’ve noticed that the Hub arrow keys are more responsive than the FireTV arrow keys. The hub appears as a remote control in HomeAssistant; I tried specifying it as android_tv_remote_entity, but that didn’t work. Is there a way to override the arrows to use this alternative remote?
