M5atom M5stack POE esp32 support

I picked up a new esp32 board that isn’t supported out of the box here. Is adding support for this as simple as mapping what GPIO pins go to which POE functions?

Here is the board:

Here is the schematic:
https://docs.m5stack.com/#/en/base/w5500PoE?id=schematic

I was looking for MDC, MDIO but all I could find was MOSI, MISO. Are these interchangeable?

Thanks!

The docs say

type ( Required , string): The type of LAN chipset. Must be one of LAN8720 or TLK110 (see datasheet for more details).

I don’t see W5500 there.

What “docs” are you looking at?

Why wouldn’t this be supported if its an ESP32?

Edit: It looks like the ESPHome software does not support the ethernet W5500.

I am in the same boat, I prefer POE not wifi devices. I am still searching for a device for my sensors using POE.

Sorry to drag up an old post but has anyone got this board to work, like others I am after a poe board which will fit in a standard uk back box 70mmx70mm.

Regards
James

Not with esphome. Read the docs. Ethernet Component — ESPHome

What about with Tasmota?

Wouldn’t know, what do the tasmota docs say?

By the way why do you want to put it in a back box? You aren’t thinking of putting mains in there too are you?

No! The idea was to run an ethernet cable and power the device via poe to measure temperature. I have a front cover for a standard backbox with slits in it so it looks like a normal room stat.
