M5stack Atom Echo not showing as serial device

Anyone else having this issue? I have tried installing all the drivers, but nothing works.

What’s worse I had this issue before, but after installing the CP2102 drivers, I could flash devices, now something is broken I guess.

I hate even having to use Windows for this, but I didn’t find an option to install on Linux. Are there any Linux installation options, perhaps even manually without the web version of esphome/chrome based browsers?

I downloaded the VCP driver from here: https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/ and everything works. But the guide to install CH343SER.ZIP is bullshit…

Wondering if you get it to work in windows 10. I’ve got the same problem. Non of the mentioned drivers work when installed. Its not even recognised as a 5M stack Athom lite in Device manager. I’m out of options now.

Was trying to make a Bluetooth proxy for home assistant, but I cant flash the chip if I can’t connect to it.

Here’s what worked for me.

  • I installed the VCP driver using the link above and opened Device Manager.
  • Expanded the USB section near the bottom.
*Connected my atom, and identified the new device that appeared in the list. It is marked as USB Serial Converter. Open the device properties and looking for Hardware IDs on the Details tab confirmed it was a 0403 and 6001 device which is M5 device Per this link.
  • I then Uninstalled the device using Device Manager and selected Attempt to remove the driver for this device.
  • I disconnected/reconnected the device and was able to see a new USB Serial Port in the web.esphome.io Connect dialog. Flashing proceeded as normal
