M5Stack Atom

I am having difficulty getting an Atom microphone working, and ask if there is somebody who could please offer some advice.

My hardware platform is a Dell XPS13 running Debian 12 (Bullseye). HA is installed in supervisor mode, not under docker. The Atom microphone is a M5Stack Atom Lite ESP32 purchased from AliExpress, here is a picture of it:

I used this guide to set it up on HA :

The device itself is setup like this:

All appears to be setup correctly, in that I can switch on and off the “Use listen light”. But It will not respond to my wake word. Using the same Assistant and openWakeWord/Piper/Whisper and the Assist Microphone add-on, I can use the wake word and successfully given it commands which in turn are action successfully.

So the main question is whether my problem is that I am using a “Lite” not an “Echo”? They both use the ESP32. If that is the case, has anyone a guide on how to set up the Lite? If the problem is not the fact that I am using a Lite, could anyone steer me to how I might resolve the issue?

Hi @PeterAklNZ

I don’t think it’s possible to do this with the lite version.

Don’t waste the lite though. You can make a Bluetooth proxy with it.
