M5stack with encoder face used as rotating MQTT dimmer

Hello,

I have put together a M5stack with a base plate and the encoder face. With this, I made a rotating MQTT dimmer sending values between 0-100 to a brightness_command topic to MQTT.
The M5stack and MQTT part is working great, but now I want the connect this MQTT dimmer to a dimmable light in my house.

I tried everything I could find on the forum, but did not succeed. I think I use the default template, as my MQTT message for brightness is a simple number between 0-100.
I tried templating and I tried automatons…The HA integrations manual only speaks of MQTT controllable lights, but not of MQTT dimmers.

How can I connect this MQTT dimmer to a dimmable light (Hue) in HA?

Can anyone help me?

I’m not sure if you figured it out by now?
But here are my 2 cents.

The M5stack dimmer will need to register it’s values with a MQTT server.
HA will need to register the Hue light with the same MQTT server.
HA should now control the Hue light based on the MQTT topic message value sent by the M5stack dimmer.
