Make Belkin Wemo Light Switch appear as light instead of switch

As the topic says my Belkin Wemo light switches (the push button ones not the dimmers) appear as switches rather than lights so I can’t add them to light groups, is there a way to force it or a hack to add them to a light group?

Using the following config.

light:
  - platform: switch
    name: name
    entity_id: switch.wemodevice

You can hide switch by doing the following.

homeassistant: 
  customize:
    switch.wemodevice:
      hidden: true
