Make the Sunset/sunrise trigger offsets configuration more clear

The sunset/sunrise trigger ‘offsets’ GUI option is confusing to newcomers like me - the field hint suggests that the offset is specified as hh:mm:ss, but if I specify ‘-15:00’, the actual offset applied is 15 hours, not 15 minutes as I would have expected. It is also not clear if the offset is before or after sunset from the UI (though it is spelled out in the docs).

One way to make this easier to understand is to have the parsed value displayed as “15m before sun set” instead of “When the sun sets offset by -15:00”. That would give instantaneous feedback to the user setting this up.

There could also be a radio button or dropdown to select if the offset is applied before or after the event.

We have a forum category for feature requests. Though for frontend requests you should post here:

Sorry about that - moved this post to ‘feature requests’. Would it be considered cross posting if I also requested this at github?

I mean, you ignored the format and set it with a missing pair of values, then expect it to behave the way you thought it would?

Also, why would you have any doubt whether -15:00 would mean before or after? Isn’t the - part before the value clear enough that it means before?

PS. Don’t forget to vote for your own feature request

Well, the one here won’t be seen by people to consider your idea. Just close this one and post there if you think it’s a good idea.
Personally I think that not wanting to follow the syntax is not likely to get anywhere, but you could try. I would expect you would hear that it works as expected.
