Making a ubuntu bootable flash drive

I’m following the steps in the HA installation instructions to get HAOS onto the Beelink n100 pc I just got. I am stuck on making the bootable ubuntu flash drive. I have tried flashing ubuntu on several different flash drives using both Rufus and Belena. Everything appears to go fine with the flashing/etching. When I take the newly created flash drive out of my windows pc and put it in the Beelink mini pc, it does not boot from it. I go to the boot menu and it recognizes the usb flash drive, but it appears to not recognize it as bootable. I don’t know where to go from here. The flash drive has nothing on it if I put it back into my pc and try to view whats on it. This is what i’m doing in Rufus.

Do I not have the correct image file? I’m using the same image file in rufus and belena that I downloaded from the ubuntu website. What else can I provide that can help you to help me figure this out? Thank you

Try this guide: https://portal.habitats.tech/Home+Assistant+(HA)/3.+HAOS+-+Install+BM

Try booting the USB from your PC. Until you tell it to install Ubuntu, nothing on your PC will change.

Is there an error message? Did you set the boot order to boot from the USB first?

After using any program (rufus, belena, and now Ventoy) to flash the usb, the flash drive is empty everytime.

How do you know is empty? Windows probably doesnt see the Linux partition.

Try with another pendrive?

Also there is an option to check th device for bad blocks.

If doesnt work, re-download the image.

If you are looking at Windows File Manager, this is normal. It is now a Linux format. Try booting it in your PC.

I was trying to create the boot drive on my laptop. I switched over to my desktop and everything went exactly like the guides said. When I finally got the image flashed to the usb flash drive I could indeed see all the files from windows explorer. It’s still a mystery as to why my laptop wasn’t creating the bootable drive.
