I’m new to HA. I bought a pack of 4 Kasa KP125M smart plugs to test with my Shelly plugs. Well I was able to get the plug to work with the Kasa app but not with HA. I could not find a plans in HA where the device showed up. Then I tried with my iPhone 6s (iOS 15.x.x) while choosing the Add Matter from the device tab it gets to the point that it says I should be using the HA Companion app and to download it from the APP store, well it’s actually the HA app that’s telling me this. WTH?
So, are the Kasa KP125M devices supported directly in HA as a Matter device? If so how to adopt?
Is there more than one HA app??
Is the App required for Matter or Thread adoptions??
What else is required to make this work? My only thread or Matter router is my Apple TV… but I was not able to get this added to HA since the code presented on the ATV is not accepted by HA… Is the ATV in play here or required to get these plugs working in HA?
Is it possible to use the KP125M without the Kasa App and without internet?
Is a certain version of IOS required for adoption of Matter devices in HA?
Ha use the iPhone and Android OS to add Matter devices, so the OS needs to support it.
Kasa might have their system, which do not rely on the phone OS.
If you can add it to Matter with another device, then it should still work with your current phone through HA.
I think this should have worked for you. Maybe tell us the steps you took and what kind of errors you encountered.
If your Apple Home generated a pairing code, it would be in the form XXXX-YYY-ZZZZ
and you would enter it into HA as XXXXYYYZZZZ
Check compatibility (Clickherefor more information)
iOS system: Version 16.2 or later.
Matter-supported Controller: Home Pod, Home Pod mini, or Apple TV.
So looks like your only option is to use the Matter Server directly.
This will require that you have a Bluetooth device available on your HA system.
You’ll configure the Bluetooth device number in the Matter Server AddOn and then use its UI to commission the device
