I bought a couple of Leviton smart switches earlier this year, because of their announcement that they would be upgradable to Matter. I recently got the Matter firmware on both of them, and both were successfully joined to HA as Matter devices (instead of the previously used Leviton Decora Wi-Fi integration).
When under the Leviton Decora integration, both devices appeared as a type of “Light”, and that is noted in the documentation. Switching over to Matter, I had hoped that the D215S (non-dimming) Switch would show as a “switch”, or even be selectable (thinking along the lines of Switch as X) since this switch is currently being used to control an exhaust fan, but alas, even under Matter, it still shows up as a “Light”.
Knowing this capability of remapping the domain of Zigbee devices is already out there, would it not make sense to have a similar capability for Matter?
