Matter occupancy sensor has a weird german translation

Hello,

the Matter integration of Home Assistant uses “Belegung” as translation for occupancy. This translation doesn’t fit very well in my opinion. According to the values the sensor can have I would suggest “Bewegung” as a better translation choice.

I would vote against “Bewegung”, as this is only really fitting for motion sensors, as occupancy sensors also register occupancy if there is no motion/Bewegung.

While I understand your slight problems with “Belegung”, as this is more fitting with hotels and hospitals, I still think there needs to be a differentiation to motions sensors for occupancy sensors.

My suggestion would be “Anwesenheit”.

I agree that’s the better option.

Has anyone of you already added a matter device via the SkyConnect?

For me, this only works as long as a second Boarder router (HomePod mini) is in use.
As soon as the Homepod mini is removed, there is only an error message that a boarder router must be available.

I have tested this with a Eve motion with Matter firmware.

Yes, I did manage to make this work. It needed a bit of tinkering because I was using the container version of Home Assistant, but after I moved to Home Assistant OS it worked fine.

Like described in the following article, it is required that you enable the experimental multiprotocol support of the SkyConnect stick.

@Snicket

I have successfully added the Eve motion matter. But when I then removed the HomePod mini, the Eve Motion in Home Assistant was no longer accessible and could not be added again.
The error message came that a boarder router is required.

the SkyConnect is listed in the integration Open Thread Border Router and in the Matter integration

Do you have a open thread border router entry in Home Assistant like in the screenshot?

Yes I have.
