Anyone have experience connecting an existing light strip to network via Matter Over WiFi Led Strip Light Controller?
Specifically, I have a Tuya light strip and would like to start using matter, to remove all the other controllers I’m using, ie. Tuya, zigbee. Rather than replace all strips, wondering if connecting over of these controllers to the strips would work.
I just setup the Zemismart Matter-over-WiFi RGBCW controller with my year-old BTF-Lighting 24v strip. This controller should work with 4-wire (RGB), 5-wire (RGBW), and 6-wire (RGBCW) non-addressable 12v or 24v strips, though be advised the integration doesn’t let you specify which wires are connected and just assumes they all are. If your old strips are 5v, or use addressable ICs (WS28xx, etc), then this controller won’t work for you, as it’s just a straight 5-channel dimmer module.
The ZML3 controller is advertised by Zemismart as “RGBCW” but the specs say adjustable color temp, and there is a sixth pin for color temp adjustment, so technically I guess it’s a RGBCCT controller(?), which is what HA sees. Personally I connected a RGB(w)W (warm white) strip which has 5 pins, leaving the ‘C’ pin disconnected. So while HA shows a color temp slider, it is only “vestigial” and has no effect. I’m sure it’s possible to create a template light to “mask” this incorrect light if you don’t want to be tempted by the extra slider. I have removed the light for now because I don’t have a use for it, sorry.
