Matter - Zemismart MT01 Smart Curtain - Will not connect

Hi all,

Trying to connect a Zemismart MT01 Smart Curtain to HA via Matter.

The Zemismart MT01 Smart Curtain is matter-only and it absolutely requires a home hub of some sort which has a Thread Border Router. Given that I have a SkyConnect I figured that it would be no problem - enable the Thread Border Router and use HA as the hub. I enabled the thread border router as per this blog post and it shows up in the Thread integration.

The problem is that when I go to add the MT01 from the HA iOS app, the app can see that the MT01 exists, but when I try to connect to it, it gives me an error that there is no Thread Border Router on the network, even though there is (the SkyConnect).

I have also tried adding the MT01 using the Apple Home and Google Home apps, with identical results.

I am running Home Assistant on a RPi 4B 8GB, HA 2023.8.3, HAOS 10.5, no updates available. Only “extra” hardware I am connected to directly is the SkyConnect. I do not have any other devices connected with the SkyConnect (I have IKEA Zigbee-based stuff which I will connect eventually but are currently connected to a flaky Tradfri hub).

Has anybody gotten this to work? Is there some sort of configuration step that I am missing somewhere?

This person got it working. Perhaps there is some info in the video that can help you.

@cqlitfin were you able to add the curtain to HA? I can add the curtain to homekit, but not into HA. The video above didn’t go into any detail on how to actually add the curtain into HA via Homekit or via skyconnect.

Hey @alan22 & @cqlitfin I fixed it.

You need to change the Thread channel. Possible is 11 to 26. I changed from 15 (I think default) to 11 and it paired instantly. Nuki Pro4 and Zemismart MT01 is working nice.
Settings->Devices->Thread->Config->3-Point-Menu-(kebab-menu)>Change-Channel

My env:

So I had this issue as well and it turned out you need IPV6 enabled on your lan to do the initial connection.

Since then I’ve found these curtains will not stay connected to the network at all. They connect for a few hours and then drop off and become unavailable.

Have been going back and forth with the zemismart team but not with much luck.

Using a nest hub as my thread border router. Have other matter over thread devices that work fine.

Still the same problem on your side?

I want to re-add my zemismart driver later the day.
