I’ve been using, what seems to me, the default set of mdi icons in my config.
How do I use the ones listed here?
Do I need to download them somewhere?
If so, how do I reference them?

You shouldn’t need to download anything, most if not all MDI icons are available.
As per the customising entities doc, just prefix the name with mdi:
. Note that if you’re looking up icons on that page, the names listed there aren’t what Home Assistant is expecting - remove the mdi-
from the front of them. That is, for the mdi-access-point
icon listed on that page, you would set the name in HA to mdi:access-point
.
Brilliant. Thank you for your help.
Some entity icons change with state - door, for example.
Is it possible to have that for all icons or make one icon change to another based on state?
yes, look up how ‘icon templates’ work
Thank you.
Can you adjust the size of the icons or make them spin as shown in the MDI page the person mentioned above
