mDNS activity

Is this an example of the potential data leakage? My UniFi threat detection stopped it by the looks of it.

That’s mDNS traffic. I had to add a firewall rules to allow traffic to pass to that ip and port on my IOT vlan so that discovery would work in esphome.

So that’s good traffic not bad.

But why is my internal home assistant server 192.168.40.22 trying to establish an external link to 224.0.0.251 on port 5353. Or is 224.0.0.x a reserved ip range for mdns/internal use only?

Yeah it threw me too. Just Google mDNS. That’s the multicast network all the devices listen on. It’s local.
