Mean, Min & Max showing up in sensor properties

After a recent update I notice some of my sensors are now showing shaded graphs in the quick properties, and min, max and mean values pop up. Like this:
sensor properties

Some of these windows have buttons to turn the values on and off. In the longer history screen charts it rarely comes up at all.

I can’t pick a pattern - some sensors do and some don’t, even though they are measuring similar things or have almost identical calculations.

Is there a way to stop this?

It’s my understanding that the new method of displaying data in the pop up card is that if the entity has data saved in the long term stats db then you will get the mean/min/max data for it in the pop up.

Otherwise you get the data as you did before.

there is no way to change it. You get what you get.

and most importantly I haven’t heard any info that the devs plan to change that either. There was a lot of dislike of the new displays being talked about in the release thread and there wasn’t one dev who cared enough to even pop in and respond.

there is a work around for it tho.

you can install the custom History Explorer card from HACS (or however you install custom stuff) and it will revert the more info pop up data to the way it was before once you configure the custom card correctly. it’s all in the docs for it.

Thanks.

It is hard to complain when it is free (although I must make a donation), so yes I gets what I gets! and should stop complaining.

I’m just not sure what it’s measuring or where it’s getting the min and max values. On some entities, it will show all three values as identical, yet still have shading. On the one above, I am guessing that while the solar data comes in at 60 second intervals - and was fluctuating, the pop-up’s chart intervals might be say 15 minutes, so it is taking the mean, minimum and maximum. I am not sure what it is showing me, but in this case the mean would make sense.

I guess it’s one of those features that someone thought would look nice, but didn’t test the customers’ views.

I’ll try the HACS card you mentioned.

That HACS card is very good. Giving you more history in the pop-up is a very nice touch.

Thanks for the tip.

E.g. when clicking the current power entity of my HVAC card I get the default system graph like this

I need to use history-graph instead to get the real behaviour like this:

image

As anyone can see, the upper is just b*shit and to add on top of the pile, it has a whopping approx. 5 min lag when outputting that bs.

(I doubt it has been corrected in latest versions, however, I do not know cause I stopped updating after 2022.11 until we get a stable ground and documented list of css variables to build our UI’s after that color change episode)

Anyway, as such the default is totally unusable. => Is it possible to change the default popup when clicking the sensor entity in UI?

Is there any news on the subject on how to rever to the old know ‘real’ sensor values and graphs?

I am also very happy with the HACS history-explorer-card:

At the beginning I thought that this “only” provides an additional type of dashboard cards, but in fact it replaces the History graph of all entities… and makes the min/max/mean go away … hooray :grinning:
