Media Player Card with Grouping Support and Custom Buttons

The issue is that normally, when idle, you would also want to show the source as the title if your receiver is set to Optical (as an example).
So if I were to add a name config variable, it would probably be as an override, as in always not just when idle. So you wouldn’t be able to see music titles.
If you want, please consult with the music assistant guys, to hear their thoughts on why they’re filling out the source attribute when nothing is playing, with the original media player name.

I think I have a fairly simple solution to this music assistant idle edge case. I’ll try to include it next beta release. Shouldn’t be too hard and I want the card to work with MA.

It works great!! I’ve tried some music, then stopped it, and shows the name correctly. When it plays music, it shows the title of the song.

Hello, sorry to bother you. I tried to add this via the HACS custom repository, and got the following error:

That’s super strange. I just ran the hacs validate action and it says everything is shiny.
You are picking the dashboard category right?

I was picking the “integration” category (I’m not familiar with custom repositories). I tried the dashboard category and it’s working fine. Sorry for the false alarm!

Hey,
i absolutely love your card. Am using it with my LMS setup and it works super well.
The only issue i have, is when i use my nabu casa link, the card does not load images.
When i open the console in chrome, i get the following errer: “This request was not upgraded to HTTPS because its URL’s host is an IP address.”

So it seems to me, that it does not load the images because Music Assistant is accessed via a http IP and not via a URL.

Anything i can do to adress this?

With regards to your images not loading issue, there’s not much I can do on my end. The card just uses whatever url is returned by Music Assistant.
For what it’s worth this doesn’t happen for me when accessing remote, but my music assistant is on a seperate docker host so that might be why.

You put your Music Assistant entity id in ma_entity_id. This can be the same as entity_id.

# Search Functionality with Mediocre Media Player Cards

The Mediocre Media Player Cards support search functionality when used with a Music Assistant player. By specifying the `ma_entity_id` option, you can enable search features directly within the card.

## Configuration Example

Here is an example configuration to enable Music Assistant search:

```yaml
type: "custom:mediocre-media-player-card"
entity_id: media_player.living_room
ma_entity_id: media_assistant.living_room_ma
```

### Explanation

- `entity_id`: Set this to the media player entity ID (e.g., `media_player.living_room`). This can also just be the Music Assistant media player entity.
- `ma_entity_id`: Specify the Music Assistant entity ID (e.g., `media_assistant.living_room_ma`). This enables Music Assistant-specific features, including search. You need to specify this even if your main entity_id is the same as your Music Assistant entity_id. This allows you to use the card with a different entity_id than your Music Assistant but trigger actions on a Music Assistant entity.
