Yet a other feature i have (using mpd, vlc and tasker scripts that can be way easyer)

A media player in the phone app of home assistant for playing mp3 streams. (Playlists) and playing notificafions.

Main feature is a command to the media player to pick up a online playlist or mp3 file and play it on your phone.

Other features.

  • Some build in http authentication when your streaming your own music.

  • An additional higher priority playlist/mp3 file that overrides the normal playlist and returns to the main playlist when finished. For example listen to your voicemail or a podcast.

  • Local contol deligation. If a known self owned stream is detected. A preset home assistant media player is used for control. (For example Next prev number)

What has this todo with a media player on your mobile phone?

What am i missing?

Open home assistant app, select your phone in media tab and start playing music…

that is the browser functionality.

I mean a decent player that can play in the background. makes direct connection to the mp3 sources like radio stations/podcasts.

I can turn on the assist on my phones headset and say play music [artist/radio station/podcast] dont you want that?
