Hi guys,
Recently I added some automation to dim my lights when watching HBO or Netflix. I did it similar as here:
Now the problem: in HBO and YouTube the state changes immediately when I press pause or stop on my phone. The playback in Chromecast is paused or stopped and my lights turn on as they should (or dim when I press play). But with Netlix this is not working so smooth. Sometimes the status changes, sometimes not.
I tend to think this is a Chromecas Netlix app issue, but would like to confirm with you whether you observe the same. I don’t knwo how the Chromecast integration works with Home Assistant but it seems it doesn’t work properly when running the Netlix app on Chromecast.
Could you please check it on you end and let me know? The question is whether the state changes in HA when you play or pause the playback or not and whether it works ocasionally as in my case or always and immediately.
Same here, my automation works flawlessly with youtube or google music, but with netflix the state stays on “playing”.
If I stop the video (not pause) the state stays on playing, but if I play a new one it switches to “idle” then immediately to “playing again”.
This is pretty annoying but considering how buggy the netflix android app is, not very surprising…
Same here. I’m pretty sure it’s a Netflix app problem because it does update immediately when you control playback through the google home app. On iOS by the way.
Same here, I wonder if there’s a way around this by evaluating the duration over a span of time as a hack. It’s worth noting the HBO app does not have this problem, good thing we’re paying the extra a month on Netflix these days for half baked integrations
