Yikes, that’s doesn’t sounds good. Maybe they made a bad batch (I haven’t bought any new ones in 6 months). I would feel the same way if mine did that!
I’m using HA in docker with the matter server also in docker. No idea if that makes any difference. Do the plugs misbehave just using the meross app?
no they are rock solid in the Meross app - This is just the matter config HA & Smartthings

Interesting response. I’ve updated all of my plugs to 9.5.36 using the Meross app (though HASS shows 9.3.26 for some reason), but it doesn’t seem to have enabled any energy monitoring in HASS.
Is it implied that we get energy monitoring once they implement Matter 1.3 or do they need to say so explicitly?

Does that apply to the UK plug too?
I’m in the UK so I hope it’s coming to us. I suspect they took care of the larger market first.
I think my devices count as EU and I’m on firmware 9.5.40 but there is no matter 1.3 support right now. Let’s wait a bit longer.
So the MSS315-EU does support Matter 1.3 and thus energy monitoring now?

It says that the EU version supports matter 1.3, but they don’t explicitly mention whether that means energy monitoring is also available, they just say “Matter 1.3”
I have the same issue that both Home Assistant and Google Home report version 9.3.36.
I’m in contact with support and the pushed firmware 9.5.45. They asked me to check if energy monitoring is visible in Home Assistant/Google Home but no luck so far, still the same issues. But they are on it.
I’m not seeing 9.5.45, but thats no suprise as people keep reporting different versions.
Did you reinterview the device in home assistant?
They pushed this version to me, so it can be that you have version 9.5.40.
I did a reinterview but nothing changed. One smartplug I connected to home assistant directly, the other via Google Home.
I also got version 9.5.45 through support, but nothing changed.
After inspection of the device with the matter server add-on, I couldn’t find the cluster for Electrical Power Measurement and Electrical Energy Measurement.
Meross got back to me and confirmed that energy management isn’t part of firmware version 9.5.45 but will be implemented in the next version which should be out in the next weeks.
Meross pushed a new version to me and I can report that the plug finally reports energy data over matter.
I don’t know if this is generally available.
I’m glad this update is finally here and meross followed their word.
What firmware version are you using? And the update was pushed through the app? Or did you somehow manually installed it?
My devices are in version 9.5.50.
I think they only pushed this on my devices due to my contact with support about this.
I haven’t found any problems with it right now and I hope they will start the rollout in a few days/weeks.
How is the reporting? Is it “smart” and will report meaningful changes quickly (like if you turn on or off the appliance that is connected to the plug) or it’s just a “dumb” periodic reporting every X time? Does it flood the controller with reports?
Reaction time seems fairly quick to me. Not instant but sufficient for automations.
Could you provide me a way to check for controller spamming?
I can compare the energy measurement to a tapo p110 and give you the results.
