If you were using MYQ with the home assistant integration or home bridge plugin and they stopped working Meross is the way to go. You have local control over homekit and the meross cloud API.
I have HomeKit Device in HA. Will this Meross Smart Garage Door opener integrate with HA as a “HomeKit Device”? So I don’t have to use the Meross App for door status and automation? I just want local control of my devices (no cloud). Thanks in advance.
I did add the MSG100 to the Meross App to update the firmware. Two days later, I received the remote commander from Meross which I then paired with my Liftmaster garage door opener. After completing the setup of the MSG100 together with the remote commander, I removed the device from the Meross App and integrated it in HA with the HomKit Device integration. Sweet.
So I just got mine added after a bit of fiddling. Here’s how:
First I had setup the thing w the Meross app as a HomeKit device.
But I wanted it to be directly in Home Assistant without using the Home app.
So I had to reset it
To reset: hold the button on the MSG100 for about 10 seconds.
Then on my phone:
Then in the Meross app I went to add a smart garage opener → MSG100
Here in the Meross app it gives you two options:
A) Add Basic
B) Add HomeKit
Choose (A)
Now you’ll be prompted to connect to the device’s wifi network “Meross_XX_XX”
Connect to that wifi, but then the iPhone will automatically popup if you want to
A) Connect to Home &Wifi
B) Cancel
Choose (B) Cancel
Your phone will still be connected to the Meross device’s wifi, but won’t add it to Apple’s Home
Now you enter your home wifi network and password for the meross device to connect to.
Then you should see the device popup in Home Assistant on the integrations page / notifications!
I’ll keep the meross app to update the garage door opener eventually (in the app it’s under the tab at bottom User → Firmware update)
