Here is some more info about the USB cable adapter:
USBpin -- color -- function
1 -- Red -- +5V
2 -- Orange -- Uart Rx (ESP8266: GPIO3) (receive data from A/C)
3 -- Brown -- Uart Tx (ESP8266: GPIO1) (send data to A/C)
4 -- Black -- GND (0V)
On the display board there is JST XH 4pin 2.5mm pitch (you can buy from ali a box with those for ~2-3$)
USB pinout is here: Universal Serial Bus (USB) - HwB
You can use some USB-A extension cable, USB-OTG cable and cut off other side, or just solder wires to USB-A socket and crimp JST XH terminals on wires.
And here is my module from bottom with added description of signals:
It’s a little hard to get to the module. If interested I can add more pictures and instructions on the procedure.

Edit: sorry this was a reply to the mrcool diy that

I used the DIY ESPhome dongle with @aceindy yaml file and it works good. Except that it shows as 0 for both Power and Humidity, even if it sees it as available characteristics.
I have the same air conditioner, is this a plug & play device or do I need to alter wires or code?
And what is the (Android) app for being able to use it?
