Migrate from RPi 3 32-bit to 64-bit?

I notice that my 32-bit installation is no longer the recommended one. Are there any compelling reasons to migrate to 64-bit? Are there any risks I should be aware of?

Details such as that I am running a Z-Wave.Me Razberry daughtercard make me a little nervous just to dive in and try it.

Why would you run a 64-bit setup on a system with 1Gb RAM?

The only difference I see between the 32 bit and 64 bit OS is the ability to address more than 1G RAM. Being HA doesn’t, I don’t see a reason to go to 64 bit at this time.

Actually, you can use up to 4GB with a 32-bit OS, so if you have a Pi 4 with 8GB then 64-bit would be the way to go but yes, other than that there is pretty much no difference…

Thanks for the replies.

It is possible that some addons support only 64 bit. I am running 32 bit and cannot update the Unifi controller addon - I read somewhere that this needs 64 bit.
