Hi, newbie here trying to get into HA. I currently have Alarm.com installed mainly for Security but it also has some limited automation using Zwave for lights and locks as well as tying in Somfy control for Shades. I would like to migrate to HA for all my automation but can I transition my Zwave devices keeping both running or do I disconnect my zwave devices. What is the best way to transition to HA?
Thanks.
I would move the Z-Wave from Alarm and to HA, it has far better support and automation and you can’t have devices paired to two controllers. There’s integration in HA for your Alarm.com stuff (I believe, I don’t use it but I’ve seen it and read about it here) so treat that as an accessory to HA and use HA as your primary system.
At least that’s my $0.02.
Thank you for the feedback.
I am using the alarm.com integration - and it works ok. The main problem is the lag. I believe that resetting my panel will unpair the zwave devices, at least some documentation suggests that. I have not tried yet.
Unfortunately, I cannot unpair my devices from the web page, there seems to be no ability to do that through my current reseller.
I just did some more digging, trying to get my sensors to integrate with my aeotec z-wave. So I found the dealer codes for the panel, removed one of my sensors, put the sensor in pairing mode, and tried to adopt it with Home Assistant.
Nothing happened.
According to this post on Reddit:

They’re 319.5 MHz GE/Interlogix and possibly Qolsys.
So, at least in my case, none of my sensors are in fact z-wave at all.
I appear to be in the same boat. House is full of 319.5 sensors. Have you found a hub that will allow Home Assistant to see these?
Unfortunately I couldn’t find a good solution. I just ripped out the old and put in all new compatible sensors. (Mostly Z-Wave).
