I’m currently planning a major system migration due to performance issues with Frigate and Google Coral on my Raspberry Pi 4. I’m looking to switch from the Pi4 to a Lenovo ThinkCenter with an Intel processor. Along with the rest of the system, I want to transfer my Zwave network, which consists of approximately 85 devices.
My current setup uses a Razberry 2 GPIO card, and for the new Lenovo system, I’ve ordered a Z-Wave.Me Z-Station.
Could someone assist me with the safest and most efficient way to migrate the entire network? I don’t want to risk losing everything.
If you want to upgrade your system and are concerned about destroying your work in HA of the last 4 years, please read my feedback.
Everything went as smooth and easy as possible. Did a full HA backup on the PI4, which took a very long (over the night) time because of the size. Also did the zwave JS backups (NVM, nodes.js, etc).
After installing HA on the intel based Lenovo Thinkcentre I restored all of the backups. Generally speaking, HA was already up and running like it was on the old PI but still without the zwave devices and some minor configuration issues with some integrations.
After the NVM restore I was able to ping all the zwave devices but they lost their respective entities and got renamed to the standard names. Which was pretty bad, because it broke most of my automations as the sensors and switches were missing. So I decided to do another HA full restore and after that everything was working out great. Zwave was running great and all the custom entity names were also restored.
Some final configuration changes to some of my integrations (ARM to Intel) and changing the IP to the one I used on my old Pi, everything is working as intended.
I am currently using the Z-Station only for Zwave but the range is much better than on my 500 series Razberry 2 before. After having some issues with some of my devices in the garden, the system is now completely stable and reliable.
Sounds like your happy with the z-station, have you enabled the second antenna for anything (ZigBee or BLE) or still only zwave. I am interested in the z-station but want to make sure that using dual bands doesn’t have negative impact
